IT was a day of celebration as we officially took ownership of seven affordable homes at a development on the edge of Worton, near Devizes.
Some board members were present as we collected the keys for the properties at Newland Homes’ Primrose View, where 24 homes in total have been built.
We have two one-bedroom apartments, one two-bedroom house and one three-bedroom house for rent and two two-bedroom shared ownership houses and one three-bedroom shared ownership house for sale.
All three of the shared ownership homes have already been sold to people with a local connection. We are processing applications for the rental homes and expect to allocate them in the next few weeks.
“These are lovely houses with wonderful views across Salisbury Plain towards Bratton and Westbury,” said board Chair David Trethewey. “Our goal as a housing association is to provide high quality homes in rural locations and I am very proud of what we’re delivering here.”
Chief Executive Steve Warren added: “We haven't worked with Newland Homes before but when the scheme came up we did a bit of research and clearly they had a good reputation so we decided to go for it. They have produces some really nice homes with beautiful views to a great standard.
“For years I've driven down through Worton and often thought it is a very nice village and that we should build some homes here. So when the chance came up to work with Newlands I thought ‘we’re going to fulfil something I've been thinking about for years’.”
