
Householders are being warned about a scam energy text message which claims to come from the Department of Work and Pensions, offering a £300 energy payment.
The deadline is always just a day or two away to foster a sense of urgency. Do NOT click on the link, it will take you to a malicious website designed to steal your data.
Most phone providers are part of a scheme that allows customers to report suspicious text messages for free by forwarding it to 7726. If you forward a text to 7726, your provider can investigate the origin of the text and arrange to block or ban the sender, if it’s found to be malicious.
