Anyone looking for a job or a change of career direction could get some handy help from a free online tool from the Government.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has launched a free online service called Work Hub, designed to help people find jobs, improve their CVs and explore training opportunities. It is available to anyone, whether or not they receive support from the DWP. You can access it on a mobile phone, tablet or computer, so it’s easy to get advice when it suits you.
Since its launch in June 2026, more than 20,000 people have used the Work Hub CV builder, while another 16,000 have tried its AI-powered Work Assistant, according to the Government.
How can Work Hub help you?
The online service offers a range of tools to help you with your job search, including:
Building a CV: Create a professional CV that highlights your skills, experience and achievements.
Finding work: Get help searching for jobs and completing applications.
Preparing for interviews: Access guidance to help you feel more confident when meeting potential employers.
Exploring training: Identify opportunities to learn new skills or develop your career.
The Work Assistant also offers personalised guidance on job hunting, career development and identifying skills you could use in a different role.
Hugh said the tool helped him find work. “Before, I was struggling to get a response from the employer, let alone a job,” he said. “However, upon using the CV builder I saw the response I received increase significantly.
“It allowed me to convey my skills and experience more effectively, helping me secure a much-needed job after many unsuccessful attempts beforehand.”
Help is still available in person
If you prefer speaking to someone face to face, Work Hub is designed to complement, rather than replace, support from work coaches at Jobcentres.
