WRHA is very pleased and proud to have been entered into two categories of the 2014 National Heat Pump Awards. The ceremony takes place this year in Birmingham on 19th June 2014. We have been entered into the In-Situ Monitoring Award and the Installation of the Year Domestic Award.
We have been working closely with Space Air of Guildford, Europe's largest independent Daikin distributor, since May 2007 when we retrofitted one of the Daikin Air Source Heat Pump Split Systems as a trial replacing Economy 7 storage heaters. This installation proved very successful and so Space Air was selected to supply and install 10 new air source heat pumps for our new build project at Codford.
This development of 10 Eco Homes Very Good two bedroom properties in pairs of semi-detached homes has been entered for the In-Situ Monitoring Award. Space Air have continually monitored the performance of the Daikin Altherma Low Temperature split system air source heat pumps since they were installed. This monitoring has demonstrated the cost effective operation of these systems in providing a warm and comfortable and an abundant supply of hot water at less than 50% of using an oil fired boiler, with similar percentage of carbon savings.
Following a Board decision in 2013 that WRHA could no longer continue with the installation or replacement of oil fired boilers on environmental and carbon reduction grounds it was an easy decision to turn again to Space Air to supply and install air source heat pumps in refurbishment. To that end they surveyed and selected 8kw low temperature split systems for the first four properties in this retrofit trial. The property that has been entered in the Installation of the Year category is in Collingbourne Ducis that was completed in March this year. It is early days yet as to the overall tenant satisfaction with this retrofit, but it expected that comfort levels will be high and costs much lower than the oil fuel it replaced.
WRHA has always been pleased with the service levels provided by Space Air and are confident that they will deal promptly and competently with any concerns or problems in the future. The reliability of these systems has proved excellent with no serious faults at all since 2007 as has their ability to operate as claimed.
